Global Learning Advisory Panel

The Global Learning Advisory Panel deliberates and advises on methods and strategies to increase the global engagement of VCU students and faculty through curricular and extracurricular initiatives both on campus and abroad within the context of Quest. The panel meets 2 times per academic year, though subgroups may elect to meet more often around a specific topic or project.

The Global Learning Advisory Panel members are charged with identifying strategies to provide all VCU students with a high quality education that prepares them for a 21st century global environment; specifically, to both increase the number of students and faculty learning abroad and to increase global learning on campus and locally through curricular and extracurricular initiatives. The Global Learning Advisory Panel is broken down into three subgroups whose charges are below:

Education Abroad
• Review of study abroad program proposals
• Review of Education Abroad student scholarship applications
• Review of proposals for the Quest Global Impact Awards: Departmental Study Abroad category
• Advising on program policy and on matters relating to education abroad

Virtual Global Learning − the use of internet and electronic media to connect our students to students and communities abroad
• Review of proposals for the Quest Global Impact Awards: Virtual Global Classroom category
• Advising on means to increase online international collaboration and learning.

Internationally Focused Curriculum
• Work collaboratively with academic units to enhance and harmonize internationally-focused courses and curricula at VCU
• Explore options for ensuring that each student has the opportunity for course work that explicitly includes global content and prepares each student for life and work in a 21st-century globalized environment
