Media and Culture Summer Program
The VCU Media and Culture Program is a 3-week summer program designed for students from Chinese universities, jointly run by the VCU Global Education Office and the VCU Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture. In this program, students have received topical lectures offered by Robertson School faculty, as well as intensive English language instruction from the CEA-accredited program.
The program has offered two field trips to major media outlets in the Richmond, VA area, which included a newspaper, a TV station, an advertising agency and a PR firm. Students had opportunities to interact with media professionals in those fields.
The comprehensive classroom content is supplemented by a rich cultural program, including various educational day trips and participation in GEO initiatives, such as Globe Café. The program is structured to enable active engagement of students within both the VCU and Richmond communities, allowing a true immersion experience.
The program generally runs in July at VCU. An intellectually and culturally enriching experience, the program has been competitive in fees and has had limited seats.
