VCU Globe is a global education living-learning program open to undergraduates in all disciplines. The program prepares students to become engaged global citizens by providing them the competencies, skills and experiences needed to successfully navigate the complexities of globalization. VCU Globe offers an opportunity for interested and qualified faculty members to take an active part in this exciting new program as VCU Globe Faculty Fellows.
VCU Globe Faculty Fellows principally interact with VCU Globe staff and students as instructors of a VCU Globe Seminar. Additionally, Fellows may engage in a number of scholarly initiatives, including: grant writing, faculty learning communities, faculty scholarship communities, and professional presentations and publications. VCU Globe Faculty Fellows may also apply for professional development funds (up to $500), and are granted priority use of VCU Globe classroom, meeting, and office space.
Application deadline: January 26, 2018
VCU Globe Seminars
The VCU Globe curriculum includes a rotating list of 3-credit elective courses from which students are required to select one to fulfill their Globe academic requirements. This list is updated annually and intended to represent the breadth of disciplines within the community of VCU Globe students and across the university. These may be new or special global education sections of existing courses.
All VCU Globe Seminars are intended to:
Develop students’ abilities to navigate cultural and personal borders, with particular reference to professional goals and plans.
Expose students to a wide range of individuals and groups of people; students should have direct and meaningful contact with worldviews and experiences different from their own.
Foster students’ awareness of the skills required of a global citizen/culture broker within relevant professional fields.
VCU Globe welcomes creativity and innovation in the design and implementation of VCU Globe Seminars. Classes may be designed for particular majors, but preference will be given to proposals with minimal prerequisites, so that all interested Globe students may enroll. Courses may or may not have a service component.
Faculty Fellows will be compensated consistent with University policies. For more information, please review:
