Mission

VCU Global Learning expands access to transformative global education experiences for the university community.  

As a central hub for global learning, we deliver services and programs in two key areas: education abroad and global student engagement.

We intentionally bring international and domestic students together for mutual benefit, advancing international student success and creating opportunities for all students to build cultural agility, mutual understanding, and global awareness.  

Through inclusive advising, faculty collaboration, and co-curricular programming on campus, in the community, and abroad, and guided by shared global learning outcomes, our work engages students across cultures, deepens empathy and self-awareness, and supports the integration of global knowledge into their academic, personal, and professional lives.

VCU Global Learning envisions a university where every student graduates having engaged in transformative global experiences that prepare them to thrive in a dynamic, interconnected world.  

Operational Standards

Global Learning is part of the Global Education Office and is guided by VCU ethical standards in the Code of Conduct, VCU’s Core Values and by best practices and ethical standards set by international education professional associations including NAFSA’s Statement of Ethical Principles, the Forum on Education Abroad’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.  VCU is a proud member of the DA Global Access Network and the Forum on Education Abroad and is committed to providing greater access to global learning experiences.
