Passport delays

Passport delays require planning ahead

More people are beginning to travel out of the country this summer and need to obtain or renew a U.S. passport for travel. Due to increased demand, mail delays and processing backlogs because of COVID-19, recieving a passport is expected to take much longer than usual. The U.S. State Department is currently projecting a wait time of 10-12 weeks for renewals that may cause stress, added expenses and canceled trips. In order to avoid the situation of not having a passport by the time of travel, visit travel.state.gov/passport to get information about what to expect when ordering a passport, and measures to take to expedite the process.
