International Student Support Advisory Board
Purpose
The purpose of the International Student and Scholar Advisory Board (ISSAB) is to share issues of concern for international students at VCU and to offer feedback on GEO-sponsored programs, activities and resources. ISSAB members are expected to participate in programs and activities sponsored by the Global Education Office in order to provide feedback and to seek the feedback of their peers.
Membership
The board is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students from both the Monroe Park and medical campus and represents a variety of programs and cultural backgrounds. Members apply for the position and serve for the full academic year.
Role of Board Members
- Attend one required meeting each month.
- Serve on committees and attend any necessary committee meetings.
- Participate in GEO-sponsored programs, activities and events so that they may offer first-hand feedback and suggestions.
- Serve as a voice for international students & scholars within the VCU and Richmond communities in order to promote cultural awareness.
Benefits of ISSAB Participation
ISSAB members will serve as a voice for their international student and scholar peers and will have the opportunity to impact the international experience at VCU. Members will also gain valuable leadership experience.
