English for University Success
The VCU English Language Program will offer a free online English course that focuses on communication skills and American culture for asylum seekers and refugees. This will help them to integrate into American society and prepare for college admission.
Students will develop their language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening and learn about American culture. It will provide opportunities for the students to talk with native and proficient English speakers in class, write short responses to simple discussion questions, and engage in cross-cultural activities. Students will be able to join the course from any device, computer, or smartphone with an Internet connection.
VCU ELP is committed to providing English instruction to enable students with diverse backgrounds to effectively use English and to experience and understand other cultures while building networks and making new friendships.
Please contact the VCU English Language program at geo-elp@vcu.edu for more information about this course.
