A Voice For Global Nomads Of Color

RICHMOND, Va. (May 13, 2016)—Amanda Bate, a master’s student in the VCU School of Education counselor education program recently completed an internship in the Global Education Office working with International Student and Scholar Programs.  While in ISSP, Amanda completed her 100-hour practicum, meeting with several students to assist with graduate school applications, personal statements, resumes, career searches and social adjustment at VCU.

She also led two career development programs for international students. The first program focused on resume building and the other was a LinkedIn workshop in which she taught students how to create effective career portfolios that will assist them during job searches.  Finally, Amanda led a small group designed to encourage more African American students to take advantage of study abroad opportunities.

Amanda was recently interviewed by the Wall Street Journal about her blog, The Black Expat.
